Born in 1995, Pengeparty began as a London club promotion and developed a distinctive identity within the city’s house music and nightlife scene. Built on a passion for music, a dedicated team of DJs and promoters, and a loyal following, Pengeparty became known for its atmosphere, carefully selected music and memorable club nights.
From its early events at the Aquarium Nightclub to parties at some of London’s best-known venues, Pengeparty built its reputation through music, people and the experience it created. Behind every event was a combination of DJ talent, promotion, organisation and the dedication required to bring people together through a shared love of club culture.
At the heart of this story was promoter Jason Lorimer and his brother, who began his DJ career under the name DJ Hermes before later becoming known as DJ Tim Spins. Alongside Jason and the wider team, he contributed to Pengeparty as a resident DJ and through his involvement in the promotion and organisation of events.
The journey from DJ Hermes to DJ Tim Spins represents an important part of this history. His experience behind the decks, combined with his work behind the scenes, helped shape his understanding of both the creative and practical sides of the club industry.
Pengeparty received recognition in contemporary clubbing publications, including M8 DJ Magazine and Ministry magazine.
M8 DJ Magazine featured Penge Party at number three in its Top Parties feature, in a listing associated with Chelsea Football Ground. The original magazine page provides valuable evidence of the promotion’s recognition during London’s evolving club scene.
In 2000, Ministry magazine placed Penge at number ten in its Top Ten Clubs feature. The article described the night as a popular house music destination, highlighting its distinctive atmosphere and the loyal following it attracted.
These magazine features provide important evidence of Pengeparty’s place in the clubbing culture of its era. Alongside original flyers, photographs, videos and contemporary event listings, they help preserve the history of a promotion built through years of music, organisation and community.
Pengeparty was also nominated for the London Club Awards. The original nomination records and supporting media coverage will form part of the historical archive as they are assembled.
Pengeparty’s story was not confined to London. The promotion also took its parties abroad, including Ibiza, extending its reach into an international clubbing environment synonymous with electronic music, DJs and dance culture.
These overseas events form an important chapter in the promotion’s history. They reflect the ambition to take the Pengeparty experience beyond its London roots and connect with audiences in other destinations.
Jason Lorimer and his brother, DJ Hermes who later became known professionally as DJ Tim Spins, were both part of this wider clubbing journey. Their work combined DJ performances with the planning, promotion and organisation that helped bring events to life.
Original flyers, photographs and video footage will help document these international activities, including the venues, dates, performers and people involved. Together, this material will provide a clearer picture of how Pengeparty and its associated DJs developed connections beyond the UK.
The surviving historical record provides several important milestones in Pengeparty’s journey.
In April 2004, Pengeparty celebrated its ninth anniversary at Ministry of Sound, with a lineup that included Jason Lorimer and Tim Spins. Contemporary event listings provide an independent record of this occasion.
In June 2014, Time Out documented Pengeparty’s 19th birthday celebration at McQueen in Shoreditch. The event featured Jason Lorimer, Tim Spins and other DJs, reflecting the longevity of the promotion and its continued presence in London’s nightlife.
These events represent more than dates on a calendar. They are part of a wider story involving venues, music, friendships, professional relationships and the many people whose contributions helped shape Pengeparty over the years.
Pengeparty also earned recognition through two nominations for the London Club Awards, widely regarded as among the most prestigious accolades in the UK clubbing industry. These nominations reflected the promotion’s standing within London’s nightlife scene and its contribution to the city’s club culture. Alongside its recognition in M8 DJ Magazine and Ministry magazine, the nominations form an important part of Pengeparty’s heritage and demonstrate the reputation it built over the years. Another important chapter in the Pengeparty story was its involvement as a founding partner of the London Ice Bar, which operated successfully from 2005 to 2020. Through Jason Lorimer’s work in branding and promotion, Pengeparty’s experience in creating memorable nightlife experiences extended into a distinctive hospitality concept that attracted visitors looking for something different in London. This venture demonstrated how the creativity, promotional expertise and understanding of customer experience developed through Pengeparty could translate beyond club events into a wider entertainment brand. The London Ice Bar became another part of this heritage, reflecting the team’s ambition to create unique experiences and contribute to London’s evolving leisure and nightlife scene
The original Pengeparty website, together with its collection of club photographs, flyers, videos and promotional material, offers a valuable opportunity to document this history using contemporary evidence.
The archive will bring together original website pages, magazine features, event posters, photographs, recordings and media coverage into a historical timeline beginning in 1995.
It will also recognise the people behind the promotion: the DJs, promoters, collaborators and contributors whose work helped establish Pengeparty’s identity.
As the archive develops, further information about venues, lineups, international events, awards and media coverage will be added wherever the original material supports it. The aim is to preserve the character of the original events and make this chapter of club history accessible to a new generation.

I am really glad to have invested in the Intermediate DJ Course. I was looking to up-level my skills and Tim was able to flex the programme to suit my needs. It was very useful to cover some of the basics whilst learning new ways to DJ. By the end of 8 hours I was navigating 3 decks (having only ever used two). I left feeling excited, confident and inspired. Tim is precise and focused in his teaching. He is experienced and knowledgeable with an obviously deep love for music. I trusted his guidance and really enjoyed the lessons. Highly recommended.Posted on Google![]()

Excellent introduction to DJing from Tim who was very good at demonstrating and explaining the way around the decks and mixing. As a DJ before the digital age he is very good at explaining how to mix properly old skill without just relying on the auto sync buttons. Very organised and great response times.Posted on Google![]()

I have just done the Beginner DJ Course over 2 days at the Dalston studio. I had the pleasure of having Tim as my tutor. From the course I was looking to get a better understanding of Pioneer DJ XDJ 700 multi player and DJM 450 mixer. I have no previous experience of being a DJ. Music is my hobby and I just collect and listen to good music at home and want the best set up. WOW!!!! The Course was engaging, educational, interesting and Tim was absolutely brilliant. He made the course fun. I highly recommend the London DJ Academy if you are looking for Professional advice from an experienced DJ or just want good advice/guidance from someone who shares your passion for music and knows the equipment inside out through years of experience. Thanks Tim and keep up the good work.Posted on Google![]()
